This route departs our nation's capitol mid-afternoon, works its way through West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and curves around Lake Michigan up into Chicago, arriving fairly early the next morning.
The hills of West Virginia provide interesting topography, particularly around the town of Martinsburg. (The old brick building pictures are interesting - were they some sort of manufacturing complex in days gone by? Speaking of manufacturing, it was striking to see the remnants of a vibrant industry. I can see what they mean by Rust Belt. |
